Mask-wearing rap-rock misfits Hollywood Undead formed in Los Angeles, California in 2005 and after catching a buzz on MySpace, unleashed their first album, Swan Songs three years later, which struck number 22 in the US. The LP reached number five on Billboard's Top Alternative Albums chart, number three on Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums chart and number eight on the Top Rock Albums chart. The controversial track "No.5" was one of the singles issued from the album and showcased the group's predilection for pounding beats, rapping, in-your-face guitar riffs, and catchy melodies. They may reference "scene kids" and "stoners" but their problematic use of misogynistic and homophobic slurs overshadows the song. "No.5" was written by Hollywood Undead's Aron "Deuce" Erlichman, Dylan "Funny Man" Alvarez, Matthew "Da Kurlzz" Busek, Jordon "Charlie Scene" Terrell and produced by Aron "Deuce" Erlichman.
