Mike Denver's poignant ballad "N17" honors the Irish town of Tuam— the second-largest settlement in County Galway—and the real-life experiences of its residents. The Irish country star sent out his new interpretation of the evocative song—which was originally penned and performed by The Saw Doctors and released as their first single in August 1989—as a single in 2022. Produced by The Waterboys' frontman Mike Scott "N17" tells the tale of a homesick Irish emigrant who yearns to be on the N17 national route (which links Galway with County Mayo and County Sligo, passing through Tuam). As such, the song has become an unofficial national anthem for those who miss the home comforts of Ireland. In 1990, a re-released version of "N17" by The Saw Doctors topped the Irish charts that Christmas 1990, which paved the way for the release of the band's chart-topping debut album, If This Is Rock and Roll, I Want My Old Job Back, that year.
