Released in 1989, "Black Velvet" oozes late-night sensuality, rich vocal prowess and conveys an air of southern gothic fantasy. This slow-burning blues-rock ballad is a love letter to Elvis Presley – who was often painted on black velvet – and sees Toronto-born singer-songwriter Alannah Myles swoon over Elvis Presley’s “slow southern style" with “the sun settin’ like molasses in the sky.” Written by Canadian songwriters Christopher Ward and David Tyson and recorded by Alannah Myles, the song shot to the top of the charts in the US and a number of other countries worldwide, as well as reaching Number 10 in Canada. With its winding groove, laidback guitar and driving hook, Black Velvet is a bona fide karaoke classic. Can you capture some of the magic of Alannah Myles’s voice in your own rendition?

This is a great version of Black Velvet. Just like the original track which Alana Miles sang.

Excellent Tracks! The only thing is, it goes on a good 10 seconds past where it usually ends in the original recording. So you're going to have to vamp a long time at the end, till the music stops.
