"Dear Maria, Count Me In" was released in 2008 as the second single from All Time Low's second studio album, So Wrong, It's Right (2007). Written by Jack Barakat, Rian Dawson, Alex Gaskarth, and Zack Merrick, the song was inspired by an encounter with an old friend from high school who had become a stripper. Shortly after its release, "Dear Maria, Count Me In" reached Number 86 on the Pop 100, marking All Time Low's first appearance on the Billboard charts. The song's promotional video, which featured the band performing at a strip club, premiered in February 2008 and received heavy rotation on MTV. The popularity of "Dear Maria, Count Me In" helped the band build momentum for the greatest success of their career with 2009's Nothing Personal. In 2015, the song was certified Platinum for reaching 1 million copies sold in the US. The pop-punk classic also experienced a brief surge in popularity after going viral on social media in 2021.
