Officially released on October 14, 2022, Blink-182's "Edging" marked the return of founding member Tom DeLonge to the band's lineup after a seven-year hiatus. The track was written by Tom DeLonge, bassist Mark Hoppus, and drummer Travis Barker, who also handled production duties. Echoing the infectious pop-punk leanings of their heyday, "Edging" combines the devil-may-care attitude from their earlier releases with glossier production values and a more mature approach to songwriting. Even though its title seems to allude to the sexual practice of the same name, its lyrics find Tom DeLonge reflecting on his departure from the group and celebrating his long-awaited comeback. Shortly after its commercial release, "Edging" reached Number 1 on the US Alternative Airplay and Rock Airplay charts, and Number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Blink-182's highest-charting entry in that chart in eighteen years.
