"Jelly Roll" is a song by English rock band Blue Murder, released as the second single from their 1989 self-titled debut album. Entirely written by lead singer and former Whitesnake member John Sykes, and produced by Bob Rock, the track starts off with a bouncy, bluesy acoustic riff and a four-on-the-floor drum beat, then slowly treads into power ballad territory during the chorus, showcasing the band's instrumental might through a groovy bassline and copious amounts of electric guitar. Its romantic lyrics, inspired by one of Sykes' former girlfriends, find the singer wearing his heart on his sleeve as he openly expresses his utter devotion to his partner. Shortly after its commercial release, "Jelly Roll" became a minor hit in the United States, peaking at number 15 on Billboard's Album Rock Tracks chart. Blue Murder, its parent album, reached number 69 on the Billboard 200 and number 45 on the UK Albums Chart. The band would release one more studio LP before John Sykes became a member of Thin Lizzy.
