Bo Burnham has been public with his struggle with social anxiety. After taking a long break from performing live, he was all set to hit the road again when Covid hit. With all his tour dates canceled, he threw his talents into creating a groundbreaking comedy special titled Inside. The special, which was written, filmed, performed, and editied by Burnham, immediately connected with fans who were also dealing with their own isolation. It's part spoken word, part standup, and also includes many of Burnham's original songs. "Comedy" is one of the songs released on Inside (The Songs). On this song, the comic explores his place in the world over an 80s influenced synth track. Burnham started posting videos to YouTube when he was still in his teens. As of 2021, his videos have had over 450 million views.
