Decorated American country luminary Brandy Clark has written for everyone from Miranda Lambert to Kacey Musgraves but in 2013 decided to step out of the shadows to forge her own career as a solo artist. Ten years later and she's now on her fourth studio album, the self-titled 2023 offering for Warner Records, which was produced by the equally legendary Brandi Carlile. "Dear Insecurity" features the voice of the aforementioned Grammy regular Brandi Carlile and sees the singers cleverly personify the song's titular feeling to read like a letter. "Dear insecurity, oh, we meet again don't try to flirt with me / You're not really my friend but you take up half this bed," sings Brandy Clark in the opening verse. The soul-stirring duet is one of the many highlights on Brandy Clark, which also featured a collaborative track with Derek Trucks on "Ain't Enough Rocks" and Lucius on "Tell Her You Don't Love Her."
