"The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" was originally written and composed by Rudy Clark and released as a single in 1963, making itself known again at various points over the years in the form of a genre-hopping disco rework by Linda Lewis (1975) and a duet from Linda Ronstadt and Phoebe Snow (1979), among other versions. Cher's own roots as a 1960s pop trailblazer imbued her with the perfect credentials for this cover, which you can hear playing in the closing credits of Mermaids closing credits.
