Formed in 1998 by guitarist and vocalist Deron Miller, drummer Jess Margera, and guitarist Chad I Ginsburg, CKY (aka "Camp Kill Yourself") gained notoriety for their fiery live shows and sonic mix of punk, metal, and stoner rock. Issued as their debut single and opening gambit, "96 Quite Bitter Beings" was released as part of the band's 1999 debut full-length Camp Kill Yourself, Vol.1 and combines the abrasive vocals of Deron Miller with booming percussion, energetic grooves, and scorching guitar riffs that demand your focus. "96 Quite Bitter Beings" was produced by CKY's Chad I Ginsburg and later given a profile boost when it was featured on the 2001 soundtrack to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, introducing their music to a whole new audience while providing a full-circle moment: a number of the Camp Kill Yourself, Vol.1 tracks originally appeared on skateboarding and stunt videos produced by Jess Margera's brother Bam (the Jackass star).
