"That's Texas" is Cody Johnson's barnstorming, line-dancing tribute to his iconic homeland, "where every bar is a honky tonk". This upbeat number two-steps all over George Strait "the king" while repping the state's climate, music, and food: "Ain't no such thing as chili with beans / That's Texas, hot as a flattop griddle / Ain't got a band if ya ain't got a fiddle," he sings, duly accented by a welcome wash of fiddle. "That's Texas" appeared on Cody Johnson's eighth studio album Leather, which was released in November 2023 via Warner Music Nashville and recruited Trent Willmon as a producer. The successor to Cody Johnson's critically acclaimed 2021 monument Human: The Double Album, Leather marked his third major-label full-length (for Warner) and settled at number five on the US Top Country Albums chart. The LP was propelled by lead single "The Painter," a love letter to Cody Johnson's wife Brandi Johnson.
