Scottish-Australian singer-songwriter and member of "Down Under" hitmakers Men at Work, Colin Hay does his best Bob Dylan impression In this wistful acoustic daydreamer, "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin," which was first featured on his sixth solo album Going Somewhere (2001) and later appeared on 2003 album Man @ Work. In the song, Colin Hay uses the metaphor of waiting for a ship on the horizon to describe the act of waiting for something to happen in his life ("Any minute now, my ship is coming in / I'll keep checking the horizon"). "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin" went on to achieve fame on the small screen, featured in a number of television series from Scrubs (where it was sung by the cast) and Dawson's Creek to The Hills and Judging Amy. It also popped up in the films Penguin Bloom, Morning Glory, and Words & Pictures. Going Somewhere was the follow-up to Colin Hay's 1992 acoustic LP Peaks and Valleys.
