Conway Twitty cut his teeth as a rockabilly artist and that coiffeured swagger lived on in many of his country singles. With 55 chart-toppers to his name, "The High Priest of Country Music," as he was affectionately known, frequented the US country top ten throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in 1999, although famously never anointed as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. With a haunting steel guitar swoon that echoes Conway Twitty's deep croon, "I Can't Stop Loving You" was recorded as a duet with Loretta Lynn and released in May 1977—right at the height of his fame—as the first single from their joint album Dynamic Duo. "I Can't Stop Loving You" reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart while rocketing to the top of the RPM Country Tracks chart in Canada. "I Can't Stop Loving You" was originally written by country singer, songwriter, and musician Don Gibson in 1957.
