With a career spanning nearly seven decades of music, American accordionist Leonardo "Flaco" Jiménez is one of the leading exponents of the Tex Mex genre in the United States. Whether as a solo artist or during his stint with Texas Tornados and Los Super Seven, his prolific recording output has been recognized countless times with numerous Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Grammys, Americana Music Awards, Tejano Music Awards, and Billboard magazine. In 1992, Flaco Jiménez released the album Partners, a collection of covers sung in duet with artists like Linda Ronstadt, Ry Cooder, and Emmylou Harris, among others. Included in the album was the single "Carmelita," a Latin-tinged country-rock song originally written by singer-songwriter Warren Zevon in 1976. Apart from Flaco Jiménez's masterful accordion flourishes, the song features lead vocals by country singer Dwight Yoakam.
