New Zealand's premier musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords aka funny multi-instrumentalists Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement deliver a rap parody of the highest order with this vibrant tale from the “Drive By” episode of the hit show's first season. The pair launch into the track following an altercation with a prejudiced fruit vendor (played by Aziz Ansari) and cook up an animated music video in response. It turns out the fruit vendor mistook the New Zealanders for Australians. Airing in the US on 29 July 2007 as the seventh episode of the HBO comedy series of the name, "Drive By" featured a slew of other numbers, including love song "Leggy Blonde," and was written and directed by none other than celebrated New Zealand director Taika Waititi, who helmed the 2019 film Jojo Rabbit and went on to win an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award and a Grammy Award, as well as receiving two nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
