Pop-punk is alive and kicking on this anti-establishment anthem from Green Day's fourteenth studio album Saviors. A three-and-a-half minute rallying cry rooted in classic punk, "Coma City" alludes to a bleak world in which people no longer pay attention to gun violence and the police cannot be trusted ("Don't call the cops / Word on the street is they all quit their jobs.") Recorded in London, and visually nodding to the golden age of UK punk in its black and white-meets-neon artwork, Saviors marked the final installment in a trilogy that started with 1994’s Dookie and also took in 2004’s mainstream breakout American Idiot. Super-producer Rob Cavallo—known for leaving his mark on some of the world's biggest rock acts (Black Sabbath, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance)—leapt back in the production chair following his career-defining work on Dookie, American Idiot and several other platinum-selling Green Day albums to steer the LP's full-blooded sound.
