I Am Woman - Helen Reddy - MP3 instrumental karaoke

“I Am Woman” is a song of female empowerment recorded by Helen Reddy. The artist had been frustrated at not being able to find songs that reflected the cultural changes that were happening around her. She had been having get-togethers with her female friends at her home in the Hollywood Hills where they’d discuss women’s rights. On a few occasions, she invited her friend musician Ray Burton to the all-female meeting. Burton remembers how fired up the women were about the issues and suggested to Reddy that she put those feelings into a song. The singer credits the song as having had an almost supernatural inspiration. She was lying in bed and the words “I am strong, I am invincible, I am woman” kept running through her head. She gave the lyrics to Burton who finished what would become the first feminist anthem.
