"Nail me to the cross outside / Of your ivory tower where you sit so high / On that horse you rode as I stand here alone," sings Jelly Roll on "Nail Me," belting out the words as he shows off his powerful vocal. Bookended by a preacher's voice, this impassioned song mines some of Jelly Roll's go-to trademark themes, sinning, religion, and Christianity, as he addresses hypocrites within the Church. "How’s it feel up there / Holier than thou / To live without a care / Perfect then and now,” he sings. "Nail Me" is one of the 13 numbers on Jelly Roll's seventh studio album Whitsitt Chapel, the first official country album from the rapper and newly anointed country star. Jelly Roll named the album after the chapel in Antioch, Tennessee in which he was baptised at 14. Whitsitt Chapel recruited several guest contributors, including Brantley Gilbert, Struggle Jennings, Lainey Wilson, and Yelawolf. The LP went to number three on the US Billboard 200.
