Texas-born country singer and songwriter Candace Mycale "Mickey" Guyton, known professionally as Mickey Guyton, became the first Black artist to be nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the Grammy Awards for her 2020 song "Black Like Me," featured on her 2021 debut LP "Remember Her Name." The next two years were a whirlwind of top-selling singles, EPs and other career milestones; in February 2022, she performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVI. "Nothing Compares to You"—which has absolutely nothing to do with the Sinead O'Connor classic of the same name—is a collaboration with fellow country game-changer Kane Brown, who in 2021 became the first Black person to win Video of the Year at the ACM Awards for "Worldwide Beautiful." Released as a single in 2023, the "Nothing Compares to You" duet is a romantic love song, which finds the pair swapping verses before coming together in unison for the chorus.
