Two-time Grammy recipient Alan Jackson was a towering presence in the contemporary country scene of the 1990s, sailing through the charts and pitching at number one with singles like 1991's "I'd Love You All Over Again" while scoring hits like "Don't Rock the Jukebox," "Chatahoochee," and "Gone Country." A native of Newnan, Georgia, he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001 and throughout the 2000s continued to champion a staunch neotraditionalist sound in counter to the ever-increasing pop takeover of country music. "Till the End" was featured on his sixteenth album Freight Train (2010), which marked the end of his Arista Nashville contract, the label to which he had been signed since 1989. A duet with Texan Lee Ann Womack, "Till the End erred on the sentimental side of Alan Jackson's balladry for a poignant tribute to the song's late writer, country singer Vern Gosdin, who had passed away the previous April.
