Lindsey Buckingham, of course, needs no introduction as the lead guitarist and co-lead vocalist of Fleetwood Mac, with whom he played from 1975 to 1987 and was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, Lindsey Buckingham had begun forging a solo career with his first album, Law and Order, arriving in 1981 and the follow-up, Go Insane, emerging three years later. On "Go Insane"—the title track of Lindsey Buckingham's second solo album— a squidgy, ahead-of-the-curve Fairlight CMI synthesizer provides the foundation for breezy-sounding vocals that cover the challenges of working creatively alongside an ex-lover. This archetypal relic of mid-1980s pop was released as a single in 1984 and became Lindsey Buckingham's second top 40 hit (following 1981 single "Trouble"), rising to number 23 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Three years later, he parted ways with Fleetwood Mac following the release of the group's fifth album, Tango in the Night.
