LA indie-rockers Lord Huron crafted this soaring folk-rock ballad for their second album Strange Trails in 2015 and three years later were thrust into the platinum-selling spotlight after the song was featured on the soundtrack for the second season of the popular Netflix series, Thirteen Reasons Why. "The Night We Met" is used to depict a scene in episode five of 13 Reasons Why where the two protagonists, Clay and Hannah, enjoy a slow dance together. The success of the track paved the way for a record deal with Republic Records while the accompanying video has gathered more than 233 million YouTube views as of November 2023. Aided by the cooing, comforting tones of Grammy-nominated US singer-songwriter, “The Night We Met (Remix)”—which comprises the same lyrics and instrumentation as the original—was included on 13 Reasons Why: Season 2 (A Netflix Original Series Soundtrack) when it was released in 2018.
