"Pirates & Parrots," released in 2024, is a wistful collaboration between the Zac Brown Band and legendary songwriter Mac McAnally of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band. This spirited track pays tribute to the great gulf & western trailblazer Jimmy Buffett, blending the Zac Brown Band's signature country sound with Mac McAnally's tropical flair. The song bids a tear-streaked farewell to the late icon Jimmy Buffett, who passed away in September 2023. ("All the pirates and the parrots sing, ‘So adios my friend, anchor where that ocean ends.”) Featuring breezy guitar riffs, lively steel drums, and harmonious vocals, "Pirates & Parrots" transports listeners to an idyllic location. Produced by both Zac Brown and Mac McAnally, the song highlights their musical chemistry and mutual love for the sea. The song was premiered at an April 2024 tribute concert called Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett at the Hollywood Bowl.
