The Master’s Call is a story-song by American singer and songwriter Marty Robbins. It was first released as part of his fifth studio album, 1959’s Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs. The album is a collection of classic Western and cowboy-themed songs, showcasing Marty Robbins' signature storytelling style. With a classic boom-chicka 1950s country sound, The Master’s Call tells the dramatic story of a cowboy who is suddenly caught in a dangerous storm, which results in his falling to the ground, at danger of being stomped over by his frightened cattle. This near-death experience causes him to reach out to God and pledge to dedicate his life to him, which eventually results in his survival. The Western Writers of America chose The Master’s Call as one of the Top 100 Western Songs of All Time. The album achieved tremendous success in the music industry, reaching Number 1 on both the country and pop music charts at the beginning of 1960. The album also earned the Grammy Award for Best Country & Western Recording in 1961.
