Meg Myers couldn't have foreseen the phenomenal re-emergence of Kate Bush's ethereal art-pop classic "Running Up That Hill" – which reached the top three on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in eight countries in 2022 thanks to its appearance on Stranger Things – when she recorded her version of the track in 2019. The US alternative artist followed her second studio album Take Me to the Disco – for which she worked with producer Christian "Leggy" Langdon – with a cover in March that year and went all the way to number one on both the Billboard Rock Airplay chart and the Alternative Songs chart the following January, as well landing a performance of the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that month. Her version was given a new electronic lease of life in December 2021 when Italian techno producer and DJ Matteo Milleri from Tale of Us dropped a version of "Running Up That Hill" – called "Running" – under his Anyma moniker.
