"Now That We're Dead" is the fourth single from American heavy metal band Metallica's eleventh studio full-length, Hardwired... to Self-Destruct. It was officially released on April 18, 2017, five months after the album's unveiling. Like most of the songs in Metallica's catalog, "Now That We're Dead" was written by the creative tandem of lead singer and guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. Its lyrics depict a person on the verge of death looking to reunite with their deceased partner in the afterlife. Metallica played the track for the first time on January 11, 2017, during their live show at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea. "Now That We're Dead" reached Number 2 on the Billboard US Mainstream Rock chart and entered the charts in Belgium, Canada, and Sweden. Almost one month after its official release, Metallica offered a live rendition of the song on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
