Country songwriter Paul Overstreet frames observations of familial resemblance in timeless American musical forms on this 1990 hit. "And I find I'm more and more like him each day / I notice I walk the way he walks / I notice I talk the way he talks / I'm startin' to see my father in me," he reflects. "Seein' My Father in Me" was co-written with Taylor Dunn and recorded by the Mississippi-born balladeer as the fourth single from his album Sowin' Love, which yielded five top ten singles for Paul Overstreet, including opening track "Love Helps Those" and "Richest Man on Earth." Released in January 1990, "Seein' My Father in Me" made it to number two on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in March 1990 as well as reaching number two on Canada's Country Tracks (RPM) chart. The song also picked up the prize for Country Recorded Song of the Year at the 22nd GMA Dove Awards in 1991.
