Radney Foster performs a touching tribute to fallen veterans on acoustic country tale "Angel Flight," which was written by his friend Darden Smith and recorded and sung by Radney Foster & The Confessions for the 2009 album Revival. The singer of "Angel Flight" is a C-130 pilot who is tasked with the painful duty of bringing back home the remains of the fallen service members. "Well I fly that plane called the Angel Flight / Come on brother you're with me tonight / Between Heaven and earth you're never alone / On the Angel Flight," he sings in the opening verse. Darden Smith was inspired to write "Angel Flight" following a conversation with a National Guardsman in an ice cream parlor. The thought-provoking song is summed up in the couplet: "The cockpit's quiet and the stars are bright / feels kind of church like here tonight," which Radney Foster delivers with poignant emotion.
