Kentucky-born singer and actor Rosemary Clooney dipped her toes in folk, jazz, and other musical styles across a fifty-year career, but enjoyed substantial success as a jazz vocalist, particularly in the '70s. Starting in 1977, she recorded an album every year for the Concord Jazz record label, with this song about missing a loved one ("I'll be seeing you / In every lovely summer's day / In everything that's light and gay / I'll always think of you that way"), "I'll Be Seeing You", arriving towards the end of her musical trajectory in 1991. With music by Sammy Fain and lyrics by Irving Kahal, "I'll Be Seeing You" first came into being via the Broadway musical Right This Way in 1938 and has been immortalised by a wealth of greats, from Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby to Françoise Hardy. Rosemary Clooney's version of the song was featured on her 1991 album, For the Duration.
