After winning the tenth season American Idol at the age of 17 in 2011, Scott McCreery's fate as a country popstar was sealed. Since then, he's been a regular on the US country charts with a succession of hit albums from his record-breaking 2011 debut Clear as Day—the first album by an American Idol winner to shoot to number one on the US Billboard 200 in eight years—and his top five 2018 effort Seasons Change to 2021's celebrated Same Truck. The 1990s-inspired heartbreaker "Cab in a Solo" (2023) followed the release of Same Truck and tells the tragicomic tale of a spurned lover who finds himself standing on the curb outside his ex-girlfriend's house drinking a bottle of "cab" (cabernet sauvignon), as he excruciatingly watches her move on with someone else.
