Miley Cyrus modified the lyrics of John Lennon and Yoko Oko's peace-championing Christmas standard for her tinsel-topped version of the song, removing the original's racial slurs. A collaborative effort with Mark Ronson that also features Sean Ono Lennon, "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" gave the trio a Top Ten single on Billboard's US Holiday Digital Song Sales in 2018 while the track also charted in Austria, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland. Miley Cyrus picked up the baton from Céline Dion, Sarah McLachlan, Andy Williams, Neil Diamond, Diana Ross and a raft of other artists who had all taken turns covering the song. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" was created as an anti-war song by John & Yoko/The Plastic Ono Band with the Harlem Community Choir in 1971 at the height of the pair's peace activism and became the seventh non-Beatles single release for John Lennon, who had left the group the previous year.
