Formed by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose, and guitarist John Connolly in 1994, Sevendust quickly expanded their lineup to include lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery and ascended through the ranks to emerge as gold-certified nu-metal titans. They boosted their following in 1999 with the release of their second album Home, for which they drafted in rock royalty by way of Skin from Skunk Anansie and Chino Moreno from Deftones. "Denial" was one of the album's two singles (along with "Waffle") that enabled it to enter the US Billboard 200, where it reached number 19. "Denial" itself climbed to number 14 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and to number 26 on the Modern Rock chart. "Denial," a lacerating, dynamic example of peak late 1990s alt-metal, was featured in the 2001 racing video game ATV Offroad Fury and remains among the band's arsenal of staples.
