When you’ve had a career as long and celebrated as that of British singer and songwriter Gordon Sumner, aka Sting, formerly of seminal New Wave band The Police, it’s natural that your audience would associate you most closely with the songs from your “classic” period. But it’s to Sting’s credit that he would continue producing ambitious and eclectic music in his solo career, such as the 1993 single “Shape of My Heart.” The song, which was co-written by Sting and guitarist Dominic Miller, was released as part of his album Ten Summoner’s Tales. It also served as the fifth single from the album. “Shape of My Heart” gained additional prominence when it was used in the 1993 film Three of Hearts, as well as during the end credits of the 1994 film Léon. The song peaked at Number 57 on the UK Singles Chart, and went on to become an enduring pop classic from Sting’s solo career, as well as a live concert staple.
