"Anti-Hero" is the centrepiece of Taylor Swift's tenth studio album Midnights and sees her open the door to the supposed mayhem inside her mind. "It's me, hi / I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me)", she sings, using the phrase “It’s me, hi” as the introduction to her “Midnights Mayhem with Me” series on TikTok, during which she shared the Midnights tracklist one-by-one. "Anti-Hero" holds a mirror up to some of the underlying themes on Midnights, including self-loathing and self-criticism, and here she candidly highlights her apparent flaw of inauthenticity. "Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism / Like some kind of congressman?," she asks in the song's pre-chorus. "Anti-Hero" is the third track on the 2022 concept album which saw Taylor Swift team up with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, who wrote and produced the majority of the LP, and score her 11th number-one record on the Billboard 200.
