Canadian bright star Tenille Arts showed promise with the release of her breakthrough sophomore LP Love, Heartbreak, and Everything In Between – which was released in 2020 – and followed it up with her 2021 full-length, Girl to Girl. The second single from that album, "Back Then, Right Now," was co-written and recorded by Tenille Arts along with Dave Pittenger, MacKenzie Porter and Parker Welling and takes inspiration from the former's smalltown upbringing in Saskatchewan, which seems like the ideal setting for a country music songwriter. "Brown bag bottle and a burnt CD / Turn it up, John Deere Green / Hilltop sittin' over Friday night lights / Tailgate sippin’, little dipper on bright / I'm slow ridin' down a throwback road / Time keeps flyin’ / Where'd the good old days go?," she sings in the opening verse. Tenille Arts went to Number 85 on the Canadian Hot 100 with the single in 2021.
