One of the most prolific female performers of the 1950s, American singer Teresa Brewer scored the biggest hit of her celebrated career with 1952's "Till I Waltz Again with You." Written by composer Sid Prosen, it was first released as a single alongside "Hello Bluebird" and quickly climbed the US pop charts, reaching number 1 for seven weeks. Musically, "Till I Waltz Again with You" is a traditional pop standard featuring jazz-tinged guitar arrangements and a prominent brass section, with lyrics about a young woman asking her lover to wait for her and not be with anyone else. Despite what its title implies, the track is not a waltz but a slow shuffle. Shortly after its commercial release, the song thrust Teresa Brewer into the spotlight and rapidly became her best-selling single. Most notably, it was sung by the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley, at a talent show during his senior year of high school. In 1981, "Till I Waltz Again with You" was included in the soundtrack of the comedy film Porky's, cementing its place in American pop culture.
