"Come on Over to My Place" is one of the sing-a-long highlights of 2022 jukebox musical The Drifters Girl. Created from the book by Ed Curtis, which was based on an idea by Tina Treadwell, the musical brings the life of beloved US vocal group The Drifters onto the stage and picked up two Laurence Olivier Award nominations in 2022, for Best New Musical and Best Actress in a Musical. The Drifters, steered by Johnny Moore, were living in England when they bagged a Top Ten hit with "Come on Over to My Place" in 1972, thanks to the Roger Cook/Roger Greenaway songwriting team, and duly ushered in the start of the new British iteration of the US vocal group. They went on to rack up four albums between 1973 and 1976, dropping into the UK charts with hits like "Like Sister & Brother," "Kissin' in the Back Row of the Movies," "There Goes My First Love," and "You're More Than a Number in My Little Red Book."
