"Going in Circles" is a song by The Friends of Distinction from their debut album Grazin'. The Los Angeles-based soul group was discovered by American football player Jim Brown, who also discovered Earth, Wind & Fire. "Going in Circles" is about despair felt after a difficult breakup. The lyrics are filled with metaphors describing the feeling of being emotionally unbalanced. "I'm an ever rollin' wheel, without a destination real / I'm an ever spinning top, whirling around till I drop." The dramatic track is filled with strings and harmonies and sung with an understated restraint, drawing the listener in with every word. The song reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the R&B chart. Luther Vandross included a popular cover version of the song on his 1994 Songs album.
The backing track for "Going in Circles" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
