Six-piece Irish folk group The Whistlin' Donkeys—aka Fergal McAloon on vocals, Tomas Quinn on banjo, Mickey Kerr on fiddle, Stevie Corrigan on guitar, Danny McCormack on bass, and Oscar Bradley on drums—combine their love of traditional Irish folk with a spikier Celtic rock edge. The County Tyrone group have a knack for crafting songs that span a multitude of moods and occasions, from sombre to riotous; mirroring life's rich tapestry. Fan favourite "Bee's Wing" frames the band in a softer, more serious light for a tender love song ("Oh she was a rare thing / Fine as a bee's wing"). "Beeswing" was originally written by English folk iconoclast Richard Thompson about a romance during the 1967 Summer of Love and included on his 1994 Mirror Blue album. The Whistlin' Donkeys sail fairly close to the original, but bring in traditional Irish instrumentation like fiddle. "Bee's Wing" was contained on the group's comically titled 2015 album Sung Like a Donkey!
