"This Will Be Our Year" is one of the many highlights driving The Zombies' breezy 1968 psychedelic pop masterpiece Odessey and Oracle to classic album status. Written by the band's bassist Chris White, the song wanders through the kind of bucolic and temporal themes explored on Zombies' tracks like "Time of the Season" for a song about hope and vulnerability. Released as a single in the US in June 1968, with This Will Be Our Year as the A-side, the song carves out a strong melody from bright piano chords while Colin Blunstone sings of the future with a nod to the past ("Now we're there and we've only just begun / This will be our year, took a long time to come"). This Will Be Our Year was given a new lease of life in 2014 when it was featured in the outro to the seventh season of Mad Men, specifically the episode A Day’s Work." Originally released in the UK in April 1968 by CBS Records, Odessey and Oracle was the second studio album from The Zombies.
