Tony! Toni! Toné! were formed in Oakland, California by D'wayne Wiggins (lead vocals and guitar), his brother Raphael Saadiq (lead vocals and bass) and their cousin Timothy Christian Riley (drums, keyboards) and achieved fame during the late 1980s with R&B chart-topper "Little Walter" and their 1988 debut album Who? Released in 1996, party-starting cut "Let's Get Down" cooks up a spicy dish of dance-flavoured R&B, which was largely emblematic of the time, and featured rapid-fire rapping and fresh-sounding production from DJ Quik. The single cracked the top 40, reaching number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as well as peaking at number four on the Billboard R&B chart. "Let's Get Down" was the third track on the group's fourth and final album House of Music (1996), which reached number 32 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
