Hard rockers Triumph scored a home run with this adrenalin-pumped winner that helped them cross over into the world of pop. "Somebody's Out There" is an optimistic take on the millennia-old concept of soulmates: the idea that "somebody's out there, somewhere". The Ontario favourites bagged their most significant crossover pop hit with "Somebody’s Out There,” which vaulted to number 27 in the US in 1986, and hung around in the charts for an impressive 15 weeks. "Somebody’s Out There" was in fact hurriedly added to the band's eighth album The Sport of Kings, famously written in a week by Triumph's Rik Emmett, and added as an afterthought. However, it soon became the album's lodestar and lead single — and it's easy to see why. Released in 1986, The Sport of Kings followed the band's breakout third studio album Just a Game, (1979) which spawned two of their biggest hits: "Lay it on the Line" and "Hold On."
