“Rock Bottom” is a song by British hard rock group UFO. It was released as a promotional single for their third album Phenomenon (1974). Along with the rest of the album, “Rock Bottom” showcased a move away from the space rock sound that had characterized the band’s earlier releases, moving closer to a harder-edged and more straightforward hard rock sound. The song is also famous for its extended guitar solo. “Rock Bottom” was written by Michael Schenker, Neil Carter, and Phil Mogg. It features obscure lyrics that hint at disturbing themes without ever making them explicit. It was produced by Leo Lyons, the bassist for the British rock group Ten Years After. Phenomenon would go on to hit Number 76 on the Australian Kent Music Report chart, and 202 on the Billboard album chart. “Rock Bottom" would also go on to appear on various films and television shows, such as 2012’s Rock of Ages, Glee, or The Simpsons.
