"Slippin' into Darkness" is a song from the funk/rock band War. The song's lyrics tell of someone slipping into the dark side. Founding member Harold Brown has explained it as the wall between sane and insane. Guitarist Howard Scott said he got the idea for the song from an unfortunate incident at a London shoe store. Scott was trying on a pair of boots but they were too small. The store employees pulled them off so hard, it threw his back out and he landed in the hospital. After being given a sedative, he felt the sensation of slipping into a dark place, which gave him the idea for the song. "Slippin' into darkness / Take my mind beyond the dreams.”
The backing track for "Slippin' into Darkness" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
