With their powerful 1989 glam rock trip, "Sailing Ships," Whitesnake set sail on a voyage of self-discovery. "Do you remember / Standing on the shore / Head in the clouds / Your pockets filled with dreams / Bound for glory / On the seven seas of life, / But, the ocean is deeper than it seems," wonders lead vocalist David Coverdale. The song is featured on Slip of the Tongue, the band's eighth studio album which was released in 1989 and peaked at Number 10 on both the UK Album Chart and US Billboard 200. The track, which is a favorite among Whitesnake fans, clocks in at over six minutes and was written by David Coverdale and Adrian Vandenberg, ends on a wistful note, ultimately alluding to a love as deep and vast as the ocean: "Baby, baby, baby, baby, / You'll find that you're the only one / Can sail your ship across the sky."
