"Pop the Trunk" is a song by rapper Yelawolf, released on July 27, 2010. It was originally included in his fourth mixtape Trunk Muzik and later became the main single for his EP, Trunk Muzik 0-60. Yelawolf, whose real name is Michael Wayne Atha, wrote it with producer WillPower. Its lyrics draw inspiration from Yelawolf's life in Gadsden, Alabama, offering a glimpse into the violent scenes he often had to witness growing up. The title "Pop the Trunk" is street slang for getting a gun from a car's trunk, an expression that perfectly fits the song's tough vibe. It was also the first song Yelawolf wrote for the mixtape. Eminem's manager, Paul Rosenberg, liked the song so much that it led to Yelawolf signing with Shady Records. Despite not having entered any official charts, "Pop the Trunk" was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
