Progressive rock band Yes already had an impressive career by the time their 1983 album 90125 came out. Over the course of ten albums, the band had honed a certain music style that combined a musical sophistication with a penchant for memorable melodies and forward-thinking production. In fact, the band had even broken up in 1981, before reforming two years later. Armed with a new, more pop-driven sound, the new version of Yes recorded 90125 and released a string of successful singles. One of those singles was “It Can Happen,” which featured a danceable rhythm and an upbeat melody. The song was released as the third single from the album. “It Can Happen” was written by Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, and Chris Squire. It was produced by Trevor Horn. It reached Number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as Number 5 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The song would go on to become part of various Greatest Hits releases by Yes.
