Few bands are as instantly recognizable as ZZ Top, both due to their unmistakable take on Texas-style blues-rock as well as their extremely distinctive look. And few songs are as iconic as ZZ Top’s massive 1983 hit Sharp Dressed Man,” which puts the band’s musical quirks on full display. As part of the group’s 1983 album Eliminator, Sharp Dressed Man became an instant hit with fans of the band when it was released as an album track. The song’s popularity then blew up when it was released as the second single off the album. Sharp Dressed Man was written by band members Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard; it was produced by frequent ZZ Top collaborator (and image-maker) Bill Ham. The song was a big success for the band, hitting Number 56 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, as well as Number 8 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks. The accompanying music single, which serves as a sequel to the story that started on the band’s previous video Gimme All Your Lovin’,” gained heavy airplay on MTV. Sharp Dressed Man also served as the opening theme song for the successful A&E reality show Duck Dynasty, which ran until 2017.

Very well done track. Follows the original well and the musicians have the Texas Boogie sound down.
