Billy Joel's contemplative 1978 ballad "Honesty" was thrust back into the spotlight in 2021 thanks to the fictional character Kendall Roy, whose dry, stripped-back rendition of the song appeared in the Too Much Birthday episode of the hit HBO series Succession. In Billy Joel's original iteration of "Honesty," satire plays second fiddle to solemnity as the "Piano Man" explores the intricacies of truth and vulnerability in relationships and wider society.
