They say a tattoo tells a thousand stories and for the Dropkick Murphys' bassist, singer and founding member, this notion certainly rings true. Ken Casey's "Rose Tattoo" is a tribute to his grandfather who raised him following the death of his father and was released as the lead single from the Celtic punk group's eighth studio album Signed and Sealed in Blood, which landed at number nine on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 2013. One of the band's best-loved tunes, "Rose Tattoo"—which peaked at number 25 on Billboard's US Hot Rock & Alternative Songs—was re-recorded with Bruce Springsteen and re-released on 14 May 2013 as part of the three-track Rose Tattoo: For Boston Charity EP, released shortly after the Boston Marathon bombing in April 2013.
